What Is Cannabis Flower?
‘Flower’ is a general term that refers to the smokable, trichome-covered part of a female cannabis plant?
Flower is the most popular form of cannabis due to its usefulness. Cannabis dried flower offers numerous consumption methods, such as being smoked using a pipe or bong, or by rolling it in a joint or blunt.
Cannabis flower refers to the smokable section of the cannabis plant, also known as nuggets, nugs, or bud. Users usually grind the dried flower before smoking it as ground cannabis burns more evenly. Dried flower can also be used for cooking or baking through the process of decarbing. Decarbing is baking the dried flower in the oven using a baking sheet, to activiate the THC, CBD and terpenes in the flower.
Cannabis that is purchased at a dispensary is known as loose flower, that is, flowers purchased on their own are loose from the cannabis plant itself. Users aren’t purchasing stems, leaves, or seeds — just flower.
Visiting a dispensary and asking for pot could mean that you want any of a dozen different products: edibles, hash, topicals, tinctures, pre-filled vaporizers and, yes, flower — most of which are consumed in different ways. To make things less confusing, the industry started referring to buds as ‘flower’ and most if not all retailers started to refer to the same as well.
